Okehampton Interchange

The new railway station is on the Dartmoor Line, approximately 2.2km east of Okehampton’s existing station (which remains open). It is situated at Okehampton Business Park, on the eastern edge of the town, near Fatherford Farm and Stockley Mead.

The site is just north of the B3260, with access via Higher Stockley Mead, providing direct links to the A30 to the east and Okehampton town centre to the west. The What3Words location is numeral.care.weekends.

The station is on the existing Dartmoor Line. In one direction trains go to the existing Okehampton station (which remains open). In the other direction trains go to Crediton (where you can change for North Devon) and to Exeter, where you can change for many other onward connections. Trains serve the station hourly in both directions. The existing train service between Okehampton and Exeter is unchanged, with services operating between approximately 07:30 and 22:30 on Mondays to Saturdays, and 09:30 to 22:00 on Sundays. All trains will call at both the current Okehampton station and Okehampton Interchange.

The station has a single platform, accommodating services in both directions on the Dartmoor Line.

Yes, the station provides step-free access. From the car park, a covered footbridge with a lift is provided. From Hameldown Road, a ramp provides access to the platform.

Platform-to-train ramps are available to enable on-board staff to help those who need assistance getting on the train.

There is a 24-hour Help Points (press the button to speak to off-site staff) on both the car park side and the Hameldown Road side of the station.

The station is unstaffed. However, passengers have access to ticket machines and information points to help with their journey. All GWR trains serving the station will have staff, who will be able to provide boarding assistance if required.

The station itself does not have toilet facilities. However, all trains serving the station are equipped with onboard toilets for passenger convenience.

The station includes secure car and cycle parking, a card-only ticket machine, Help Points, waiting shelters and a covered footbridge with a lift.

Yes, there are existing walking and cycling routes connecting the station to Okehampton Business Park and the town centre. A shared-use path runs through the business park, and a well-lit footpath on the northern side of the B3260 provides a continuous pedestrian route to the town. Additionally, the Devon Coast to Coast route (National Cycle Route 27) passes through Okehampton town centre, and the Dartmoor Way can be accessed via Fatherford Lane, south of the station. Funding as part of the project (West Devon's contribution was specifically to support active travel) has delivered improved walking and cycling links connecting new and existing development on the east of the town with the station.
