When the train service reopens by the end of 2021, a key part of making it a success will be encouraging visitors to use the line to visit Okehampton, Dartmoor and the Granite Way. To that end, the Devon & Cornwall Rail Partnership has been taking advantage of the summer weather to get a head start on preparing marketing materials for the line – in particular documenting some of the great day trips that will be possible right from Okehampton station.

Last week the Partnership held a photoshoot to showcase the fantastic walk from the station to the lovely Dartmoor village of Belstone, via Fatherford Woods and the East Okement Valley. A big thanks to Belstone’s Tors Inn for feeding our models and crew and allowing us to film at the pub. The Inn provides a great midway point on the walk, which then continues across the moor back to the station.

The images and video will be released later in the year, but in the meantime to whet your appetite here is a behind-the-scenes shot showing our photographer and models at Cullever Steps, one of the two wild swimming locations on the walk:
