Celebrating the Dartmoor Line’s third anniversary
Celebrations took place at Okehampton station today to mark the third anniversary of the reopening of the Dartmoor Line.
Dignitaries, councillors and rail groups from across Devon and beyond heard from OkeRail’s Dr Michael Ireland (organiser of the event), Okehampton Mayor Cllr Allenton Fisher and GWR’s Matt Barnes.
Attendees heard how the line has gone from strength to strength – with last month seeing more than 40,000 journeys to/from Okehampton in just four weeks: a new record for the line.
In the three years since reopening 775,000 journeys have been made on the Dartmoor Line.
Cake and refreshments were provided by the station’s excellent independent café, the Bulleid Buffet.
